McDermott + Bull has been engaged to lead the search for the University of Saskatchewan’s Dean, College of Medicine (CoM). This search will be led by McDermott + Bull Principal Alex Verdecchia and Search Consultant Alina Ivanets.
The University of Saskatchewan (USask) is one of Canada’s top research-intensive medical doctoral universities and home to world-leading research of global importance. Over 26,000 students from more than 125 countries study at USask. The University offers 130+ academic programs across two campuses, 13 schools and colleges, and four graduate schools.
CoM is home to 2,100 learners, approximately 2,000 faculty members, and over 700 staff throughout the province supporting 15 departments, three divisions, and a School of Rehabilitation Science. Research at CoM covers a wide range of research activities. More recently, a new research initiative involving Telerobotic Ultrasound Systems, which aims to improve access and patient experience in rural and remote communities and is helping set the highest standards globally in advanced diagnostic ultrasound virtual care. Additionally, the CoM is the only Canadian school selected to participate in the Anti-Racist Transformation in Medical Education (ART in Med Ed) initiative. It has also established the new Office of the Vice-Dean, Indigenous Health and is opening the Department of Indigenous Health and Wellness in September 2023, the first of its kind in Canada.
Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, the Dean, College of Medicine provides strategic and innovative leadership to the College as its chief academic and administrative officer.
