IRVINE, CA (August 30, 2022) – McDermott + Bull announces the addition of Shelby Varon as Director of Business Development for the firm’s national MedTech and Life Sciences Group where she will work closely with McDermott + Bull Partner Ken Dropiewski in continuing to build out the practice. Shelby has joined from a top-ranked national recruiting and direct hire firm, where she helped expand its footprint in the medtech and life sciences arenas.
Adding a Director of Business Development is a crucial step toward expanding McDermott + Bull’s MedTech and Life Sciences Practice. The industry has seen extreme growth over the past few years, and it shows no indication of slowing anytime soon. As a result of this uptick in activity, the group is expanding its reach to keep up with demand and in anticipation of the massive growth to come. As the MedTech and Life Sciences Practice continues to evolve, its members will work to recruit transformative leaders for some of the most highly-regarded companies in this field.

With deep experience as a leading Business Development Manager, bringing in large volumes of direct-hire opportunities in a variety of industries – including healthcare and biotech – Shelby will play a key role in expanding the practice. Shelby has a keen interest in the life sciences space, in general, and believes in supporting mission-driven organizations. She is an active volunteer for Advancing Women in Technology, a nonprofit that provides scholarship support to women pursuing educational attainment in technology-related fields. Shelby holds a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in business administration and management from California State University, Fullerton as well as an associate’s degree in social and behavioral sciences.
