POSITION + SCOPE
Reporting to the Managing Partner of McDermott + Bull Canada, the Partner will be responsible for driving business development and overseeing the successful execution of search engagements. McDermott + Bull offers its Partners full reign to develop their client list and practice, with the support of the company and its resources. Our Partners spend most of their time developing and improving client relationships while utilizing McDermott + Bull’s research and recruiting team to conduct the initial candidate identification and the screening of qualified candidates.
McDermott + Bull believes that the process of identifying candidates can be streamlined by utilizing the research and recruiting team that focuses on this part of the process, leaving the Partner with more time to cultivate relationships, assess final candidates, and assist their clients in building out competitive teams. We wholeheartedly believe that the best-performing companies are made up of individuals that bring the right skills and experiences, but more importantly, the right cultural compatibility to the team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cultivate relationships with executive leaders and generate new business in senior leadership and executive-level roles, typically Director level and above. Partner with client organizations to help achieve business objectives through the hiring of best-in-class talent and share talent acquisition and onboarding expertise.
- Provide clients with a highly consultative experience. Articulate market trends and search insights and apply expertise in executive search to guide clients through the search process in an impactful and thoughtful manner.
- Oversee the search process from kick-off through to placement. Guide the execution team, comprised of research and recruitment, including recruitment strategy, project management, and engagement performance.
- Conduct thorough candidate interviews and assess against the position and fit requirements. Be accountable for the effective communication of search progress, challenges, and insights with clients.
- Ensure candidates are provided with a best-in-class experience as they progress through the search process with McDermott + Bull and client organizations.
- Maintain client communication. Partner with industry associations and referral networks to expand market visibility and network of business development contacts and talent.
- Become a recognized expert and leader. Build brand recognition and presence within the area of focus and strive to be the “go-to” executive search Partner in your market.
- Identify mentorship opportunities within McDermott + Bull’s team. Participate in the ongoing development of the Company’s search professionals.
- Participate in driving business outcomes at the organizational level. Partner with senior leadership in marketing and business development-related initiatives.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE + QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of business experience with 5+ years of experience developing executive-level relationships.
- Track record of success originating new business and cultivating relationships with senior executives at the C-Suite and Board level.
- Proven success achieving a minimum of $500,000 year-over-year in fee revenue.
- Strong reputation in either industry and/or functional area of expertise. Viewed as a thought leader and/or subject matter expert in executive search.
- Experience applying consultative selling techniques to achieve business development goals.
- Strong project management skills. Able to manage projects from end-to-end including execution resources.
- Experience and interest in attending industry and networking events. Public speaking engagement experience considered an asset.

Executive Recruiter - Europe
Executive Recruiters at McDermott + Bull play a critical role in the executive search process by spearheading the candidate relationships. Executive Recruiters identify viable qualified executives for various positions across the entire executive suite and a myriad of industries.
McDermott + Bull is a fast-paced and dynamic environment; chosen candidates will possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, excellent project and time management and will be comfortable networking and partnering with business leaders to execute senior-level search engagements.
LOCATION: Amstelveen (partly working from home is possible, part-time working is also possible)
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Provide support and start-to-end project management for Search Engagements while collaborating closely with search team members.
- Generate executive candidates for retained searches
- Connect regularly with candidates in-process to provide clear information about search progress.
- Screen and interview potential candidates via telephone prior to internal submittal.
- Connect daily/weekly with internal partners pertaining to potential candidates and search progress.
- Provide weekly metrics for internal partners and clients.
- Attend regularly scheduled recruiter meetings as well as weekly touch base and development calls.
- Attend off-site “external” executive search engagement kick-off meetings at client company with internal partners.
- Attend scheduled “internal” executive search engagement kick-off meetings.
- Schedule interviews between candidates and internal partners and between candidates and clients.
SKILLS + REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant executive/corporate recruiting experience, or Human Resources experience and or a combination of Sales / Business Development is an advantage
- Used to work with meeting deadlines and completing projects on-time.
- Knowledge in LinkedIn, and relevant Social Media outlets is an advantage
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
- Ability to think “outside of the box” in order to find the most qualified candidates.
- Professional verbal, written and social communications skills.
- Ability to focus on the importance of details, data quality, and time management.
- Ability to “market” the given search role, as well as the client company, to potential candidates in an engaging and professional manner.
- Minimum Bachelor degree in a relevant study
- Fluent in English and Dutch, verbal and in writing
