McDermott + Bull has been engaged by Vancouver Community College (VCC) to lead the search for its inaugural Executive Director, Institute for Applied Climate Solutions. Reporting to the President and CEO, the Executive Director will provide strategic leadership for VCC’s applied research, workforce innovation, industry engagement, and technology adoption initiatives. This executive will lead the development and growth of a nationally recognized institute focused on clean energy, electrification, sustainable construction, climate resilience, and low-carbon technologies, while cultivating partnerships with industry, government, Indigenous communities, funding agencies, and community organizations.
Located in the heart of Vancouver, British Columbia, Vancouver Community College is one of the province’s largest and most established public post-secondary institutions, with campuses in Downtown and East Vancouver. VCC offers a broad range of career-focused certificates, diplomas, apprenticeships, bachelor’s degrees, and continuing education programs, combining applied learning with strong connections to industry and community.
VCC is entering an exciting period of growth and innovation, supported by significant investments in campus renewal, program development, and initiatives designed to strengthen the College’s contribution to British Columbia’s workforce and clean economy. Central to this momentum is the new Centre for Clean Energy and Automotive Innovation at the Broadway campus, which will expand opportunities for hands-on learning, applied research, and industry collaboration in clean energy, automotive, and advanced transportation.
