McDermott + Bull has successfully placed Dr. Vanessa Andreotti as Dean, Faculty of Education at University of Victoria (UVic). In her new role, Dr. Andreotti will champion and facilitate the goals and actions of reconciliation, promote Indigenous resurgence through Indigenous-led innovations in teaching, research and creative practices, and relationship-building. She will promote the decolonization of the curriculum and work to support anti-oppression training to promote gender justice.
Currently, Dr. Andreotti serves as the interim Director of the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies. She holds a Canada Research Chair in Race, Inequalities, and Global Change, and is a full professor in the Department of Educational Studies at the University of British Columbia. She was inducted into the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists in 2019. As an experienced leader and passionate educator, Dr. Andreotti is committed to creating spaces of independent, multi-voiced, trans-disciplinary, critically informed, and socially and ecologically accountable debates about alternative futures. Dr. Andreotti will be joining UVic in July 2023.
