McDermott + Bull has successfully placed Elaine Tham as General Counsel at The Jim Pattison Group. Elaine will be responsible for building and leading the company’s internal legal function to support its continued expansion, enhance governance frameworks, and manage legal risk across its broad and diversified portfolio. This newly created executive role brings strategic legal leadership to the forefront and plays a key part in long-term succession planning.

Elaine is a seasoned legal executive with deep experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, and regulatory matters. She most recently held senior legal roles in both private practice and in-house environments, where she advised complex, multi-industry organizations. Prior to this, she developed her expertise at leading law firms and corporate legal departments. Elaine earned her LLB in Law from the University of Windsor and holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce and finance from the University of British Columbia.

The Jim Pattison Group, founded in 1961 and headquartered in Vancouver, is one of Canada’s largest privately held companies. With more than 85 operating divisions and nearly 60,000 employees, the Group spans industries including automotive, food, media, packaging, entertainment, and real estate, generating over $19 billion in annual sales.
