The University of Saskatchewan (USask), one of Canada’s leading research-intensive medical doctoral universities, has engaged McDermott + Bull to lead the search for its next Dean, College of Pharmacy and Nutrition. This search is being led by Principal Alex Verdecchia and Senior Consultant Christiana Chan.
Located in Saskatoon, USask is home to more than 26,500 students from over 125 countries and offers more than 130 academic programs across its campuses, schools, and colleges. The College of Pharmacy and Nutrition is a recognized centre of excellence, preparing practice-ready pharmacists and dietitians while advancing impactful research in areas such as drug discovery and development, clinical pharmacy practice, public health nutrition, chronic disease prevention, and Indigenous health. As the University enters a new phase of institutional renewal and strategic planning, the College is well positioned to build on its strong foundation and expand its impact across Saskatchewan and beyond.
Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President Academic, the Dean will serve as the chief academic and administrative leader of the College. This individual will provide strategic and innovative leadership, working closely with academic leaders, faculty, staff, and key stakeholders to advance the University of Saskatchewan’s strategic priorities. The Dean will play a critical role in strengthening the College’s academic reputation, enhancing research and educational excellence, and deepening partnerships across regional, national, and international communities.
The ideal candidate will bring a relevant advanced degree and a distinguished record as both an educator and researcher, with experience at the senior academic level. Preference will be given to candidates holding the rank of full professor. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong administrative and leadership experience, exceptional relationship-building capabilities, and a proven ability to develop and execute a clear vision while leading teams to achieve meaningful outcomes.
