Located in Calgary, Alberta, Mount Royal University (MRU) is a student-focused undergraduate university known for small classes, close faculty engagement and experiential learning. Founded in 1910 and granted university status in 2009, MRU offers a broad range of programs spanning science and technology, the arts, business, communications, health, community and education, as well as career-focused and continuing education pathways. With over 16,000 students and more than 90,000 alumni, MRU combines the breadth of a comprehensive university with a strong commitment to personalized undergraduate education.

MRU is in an important period of continued growth, innovation and academic development and is advancing sustainable enrolment growth, flexible academic pathways, impactful research and scholarship, stronger community connections and an increasingly inclusive campus environment. Within this context, the Faculty of Science and Technology’s next chapter will focus on sustaining this momentum while strengthening capacity, infrastructure, interdisciplinary collaboration and the supports required for continued academic and research excellence.

Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, the new Dean will be joining at a time of significant opportunity and change. Building on strong student demand and growing research momentum, the Dean will help sustain academic quality while addressing pressures related to space, infrastructure, workload and organizational growth. Key priorities will include strengthening research capacity, advancing major capital and facility needs, expanding experiential and interdisciplinary learning, and positioning the Faculty to respond to emerging areas.

As the ideal candidate, you hold a PhD or terminal degree in a discipline relevant to Science and Technology, with qualifications suitable for appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level. You bring at least eight years of academic experience, including five or more years in senior academic leadership, with demonstrated success in strategic planning, budgeting, program development, research and innovation, and leading faculty and staff. You are a collaborative, inclusive leader who can navigate change, build strong partnerships, and advance academic quality, student success, and sustainable growth.

Mount Royal University is committed to removing barriers and fostering the inclusion of voices that have been historically underrepresented or discouraged in our society. In support of our belief that diversity in our faculty and staff enriches the work, learning and research experiences for the entire campus community, we strongly encourage members of the designated groups (women, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities, and diverse sexual orientation and gender identities) to apply and self-identify. If you require accommodation during the recruitment process, please let us know and we will work with you to support your needs. While all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
