McDermott + Bull has successfully placed John Houpt as Deputy Chief Credit Officer at Bank of Marin. In this role, John will partner closely with the Chief Credit Officer, commercial banking leadership team, and executive management. He will play a central role in advancing disciplined credit decision-making while maintaining speed, partnership, and accountability throughout the lending lifecycle.

John brings extensive experience in credit leadership, risk governance, and commercial banking. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President, Regional Credit Officer at WesBanco, providing senior credit leadership and independent risk governance across a four-state footprint. Prior to WesBanco, John served as Chief Credit Officer at Premier Bank, where he oversaw enterprise credit risk for a $6.5 billion loan portfolio. He also spent 14 years with Wells Fargo in senior middle-market credit and relationship management roles and held earlier positions with National City Bank and Fifth Third Bank. John earned an MBA in Corporate Financial Management and Real Estate from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate and Management from the University of Cincinnati.
