McDermott + Bull has successfully placed Kate Heldsinger as Deputy Chief Financial Officer at the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC). Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance & Operations, Kate will provide strategic financial leadership and oversee critical functions, including audit, financial reporting, payroll, and contract review. She will also step in as the Chief Financial Officer in the Vice-President’s absence, working closely with the Finance and Audit Committee to fulfill JIBC’s fiduciary responsibilities.

Kate is a highly accomplished finance leader with over fifteen years of experience across diverse sectors, including financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and audit. Prior to JIBC, she held roles at Premium Brands and Deloitte, where she excelled in audit management, ERP implementation, and compliance. Kate is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and Finance from Simon Fraser University.

The Justice Institute of British Columbia is a renowned public post-secondary institution dedicated to training professionals in fields critical to public safety, including law enforcement, firefighting, and emergency management.
