McDermott + Bull has successfully placed April van Ert as Vice-President, Brand, Communications, and Engagement at the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC). In this role, April will lead integrated marketing and communications strategies to position JIBC as an outstanding provider of high-quality education and training in the public safety, justice, and social justice sectors of British Columbia. She will oversee brand and reputation management, marketing, and internal and external communications while supporting efforts to keep JIBC students informed of university activities.

April is a deeply experienced communications and marketing professional, with over 24 years of experience in both the private and public sectors. Prior to joining JIBC, she served as the Executive Director of Communications, Marketing, and Government Relations at Langara College in Vancouver, BC.

JIBC is a public, post-secondary institution that provides education and training to those who’ll be there to support British Columbians and others around the world when a life is at stake or when health, safety, or property are in jeopardy. JIBC supports justice and public safety professionals at all stages of their careers in fields including law enforcement, firefighting, paramedicine, security, and emergency management.
