McDermott + Bull, the go-to executive search partner to empower change, has received the Crystal Award in the Services (People) category from the Institute of Lean Technology. Out of the 48 companies who were contenders for the award, McDermott + Bull ultimately came out on top.

McDermott + Bull began its Lean Six Sigma journey in pursuit of creating the best, most efficient process for its clients and candidates. The firm has a strong commitment to continuous improvement and has made strides in this effort with its various Lean initiatives. Notable to this award, the firm set out to fill searches in 60 days, a significant jump from the industry average of 120 to 150 days. The team that led this initiative has not only streamlined the search execution process, but they have also managed to provide an efficient, timely service unparalleled in the industry.

After conducting a confidential customer survey, the team began implementing process mapping tools to identify key value streams in its business. They then review and discuss their findings during their Yellow Belt training with all levels of their management team, including the executive team. 

McDermott + Bull systematically identified the critical path of their client engagement process and all related processes that led to the placement of high-quality executive talent. During this analysis, they also identified radical variation and white spaces within the search process. These nonconformities were prioritized and addressed based on their impact on their Green Belt project.

This is only the beginning, as they’ve now established a Lean Steering Committee to further their Lean activities. McDermott + Bull is one to look out for as it continues to become a model to benchmark in the future.
