As of June 30, 2021, Sabra’s (Nasdaq: SBRA) portfolio included 423 real estate properties in skilled nursing, senior housing, and post-acute care facilities and specialty hospitals. In this interview, Talya shares how Sabra’s portfolio has changed since COVID-19, differences in how they evaluate investment opportunities, and innovations they’ve seen in the space.

Sun-Sun de Swaan serves as a Managing Director at McDermott + Bull in the New York office where she leads the firm’s real estate practice. Sun-Sun brings nearly 20 years of real estate experience and works with clients across the sector, including firms involved with investment, development, financing, and property management. She has experience in a variety of functions across the industry, shaping her expertise and ability to deliver best-in-class talent to clients across the board. Sun-Sun has nearly a decade of experience leading real estate practices in executive search. Previously, she served as the Director of Acquisitions for Highgate, a leading real estate investment and management company. Prior to Highgate, she acquired principal-side investment and asset management experience during her tenures with Hersha Hospitality Trust and Denihan Hospitality Group. At the start of her career, she worked as a Senior Consultant providing transaction advisory services to lenders and investors at Ernst + Young’s Real Estate group and PKF Consulting.

Talya Nevo-Hacohen has served in this capacity since November 2010. From September 2006 to August 2008 and from February 2009 to November 2010, she served as an advisor to private real estate developers and operators regarding property acquisitions and dispositions, corporate capitalization, and equity and debt capital raising. From August 2008 to February 2009, she was a Managing Director with Cerberus Real Estate Capital Management, LLC, an affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management, L.P., a private investment firm. From 2003 to 2006, she served as Senior Vice President, Capital Markets and Treasurer for HCP, Inc., a healthcare REIT. Previously, from 1993 to 2003, she worked for Goldman Sachs & Co. where she was a Vice President in the investment banking and finance, operations, and administration divisions. Prior to her affiliation with Goldman Sachs, she practiced architecture and was associated with several architectural firms in New York.
