McDermott + Bull has successfully placed John Best as Vice President of Human Resources at Samaritan Daytop Village. John will spearhead all human resource functions, providing strategic planning, vision, and direction in line with the mission and operational goals of the organization. His focus will be on developing and implementing a robust human capital strategy to support the organization’s growth.
John brings a wealth of experience as a human resources professional in the nonprofit sector. He most recently served as Senior Vice President of Human Resources at the FREE Network, where he was responsible for strategic leadership and support across the company and its affiliates. John is recognized for his ability to operationalize strategic concepts, exceptional communication skills, team-building prowess, and commitment to diversity, equity, and anti-racist principles. With over two decades in nonprofit management, his career includes significant roles at several New York City-based social services agencies, such as the Puerto Rican Family Institute, Good Shepherd Services, and Gay Men’s Health Crisis.
Samaritan Daytop Village, a leading human services organization, offers comprehensive health and human services to over 33,000 individuals annually. Operating more than 60 facilities across New York City, Long Island, and the lower Hudson Valley, the organization delivers a diverse range of services including substance use treatment, mental health and primary health care, programs for military veterans, vocational and employment services, as well as shelter and transitional housing for adolescents, families, and seniors.
