A CONVERSATION WITH RENOWNED VASCULAR SURGEON, DR. FRANK J. VEITH
As one of America’s most celebrated surgeons, Dr. Frank Veith’s career was anything but conventional – he’s worked undercover for the CIA, attempted to make Vascular Surgery an independent specialty, and created the largest vascular conference in the world – the VEITHsymposium. But, perhaps his greatest accomplishment was pioneering techniques that often faced tremendous resistance. Knowing this was best for the patient, Dr. Veith forged on and helped bring such innovative techniques to life such as limb salvage, lung transportation, endovascular treatment (including aortic aneurysm repair).
In the conversation below, Dr. Veith and McDermott + Bull Partner Ken Dropiewski talk about the challenges in getting the medical field to adopt new procedures, the state of the vascular techniques he introduced to the industry, as well as an insider’s look into the field with his new book, The Medical Jungle.
