UBC’s vibrant campus experience is supported by Student Housing and Community Services (SHCS). SHCS is the largest unit within the Vice President Students (VPS) portfolio that services the University’s need for Student Housing, Food Services, Conferences and Accommodations, Bookstore, Parking, Child Care Services and Campus Mail. 

Reporting to the Vice-President, Students, the Associate Vice-President, Student Housing and Community Services (AVP SHCS) provides strategic and operational leadership to this diverse and complex unit. This position oversees a total annual ancillary operating budget of approximately $335 million (fiscal 25/26), the renewal and renovation of over 418,000 square metres of buildings on more than 85 acres of land with an asset value of $1.9 billion. The AVP SHCS remains abreast of industry trends and technology to best meet the needs of the campus community in a financially viable manner through a mindset of continual improvement, innovation, and entrepreneurialism. In addition, they ensure that all units operate sustainably, equitably, and in alignment with UBC’s strategic plans.

As the ideal candidate, you bring 15+ years of senior management experience managing complex, multi-unit operations in large public or academic institutions. You bring strong financial acumen, a strategic mindset, and a proven ability to lead diverse teams and deliver high-quality, student-focused services. A master’s degree is preferred.

The salary range for this position is $225,000 to $275,000.
