McDermott + Bull has successfully placed Dr. Tashmin Khamis as the Associate Vice President, Teaching and Learning at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). Beginnging her new role on February 1, 2025, Dr. Khamis will report to the Vice President, Academic, and lead the development and execution of academic excellence strategies, ensuring high-quality programs, advancing digital learning, and integrating Indigenous-focused curriculum. She will also oversee faculty development and quality assurance across all teaching and learning initiatives.

Dr.Khamis is a renowned leader in higher education with extensive experience in academic quality and teaching innovation. Most recently, she served as Global Vice Provost for Quality, Teaching, and Learning at Aga Khan University, where she developed and implemented the institution’s academic quality framework and led the transition to digital learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to that, she was the Chief Executive Officer of the Child-to-Child Trust at the University of London, where she transformed the organization’s financial standing, more than tripling its reserves while expanding its global reach in over 70 countries. She holds a PhD in Nutritional Sciences from King’s College, University of London, and an MBA in Higher Education Management (Distinction) from University College London. Additionally, she is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA), a prestigious designation held by only 1,000 individuals worldwide.
