McDermott + Bull has successfully placed Laura McGinley as Chief External Relations Officer at University Settlement. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, she will lead the organization’s development and communications teams focused on expanding individual giving, institutional giving, and growing the base of support through branding and messaging. She will be responsible for leading engagement with partners and supporters, setting the organization’s strategic fundraising and communications priorities, and raising its public profile.
Most recently, Laura served as the Senior Director of Development at Uncommon Schools. Before this, she spent seven years at New York University in the annual fund and giving department. She received her bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, master’s degree from Sarah Lawrence College, and Master of Public Administration at New York University.
University Settlement is located in New York City and partners with 40,000 New Yorkers on the Lower East Side and in Brooklyn every year to build on their strengths as they achieve healthy, stable, and remarkable lives. For 135 years, they’ve collaborated with communities to pioneer highly effective programs that fight poverty and systemic inequality.
