McDermott + Bull has successfully placed Colleen Nerius as the Chief Human Resources Officer at SAFE Credit Union. In leading the human capital function, Colleen will be responsible for providing strategic vision, ensuring tactical and data-driven execution of all human capital initiatives, and providing the leadership necessary to support and enhance SAFE’s service delivery to its members. She will work closely with SAFE’s collaborative executive leadership team and board, serving as an advisor and partner.
Colleen joins SAFE from $17 billion Mechanics Bank, where she served as Senior Vice President, Human Resources Director. She joined Mechanics through the bank’s acquisition of Rabobank, where she spent six years in senior human capital roles. Colleen earned her degree in business administration from California State University, Sacramento and her master’s degree in human resources management and employment relations from Penn State University.
Today, maintaining assets in excess of $2.7 billion, SAFE is the second-largest credit union in Sacramento, in the top 25 in California, and among the top 100 in the United States.
