Courtney Dorrel serves as a Partner at McDermott + Bull and co-leads the firm’s Financial Services Practice, based in Irvine, CA. In this role, she leads talent assessment, execution strategy, and overall practice operations. With over a decade of experience in executive search and recruiting, Courtney brings a relationship-driven and execution-focused approach to helping financial institutions attract and retain transformative leadership.
Courtney is deeply involved in driving innovation around how leadership talent is assessed, while also fostering collaboration and a culture of excellence within the Financial Services Practice. Her core mission is to align talent strategies with business goals, delivering search solutions that are both precise and impactful. She has partnered with a wide range of organizations, including commercial banks, credit unions, investment managers, private banks, institutional investors, and fintech firms, to fill critical leadership roles from VP to C-suite.
Since joining McDermott + Bull in 2017, Courtney has grown steadily within the firm, beginning as a Recruiting Associate and advancing through roles of increasing responsibility to Partner. Her work is known for its clarity, strategic insight, and ability to build lasting trust with clients and candidates alike. In addition to her client-facing leadership, she plays a vital role in internal operations, mentorship, and shaping the future of the firm’s practice strategy.
Courtney holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from San Diego State University and resides in Orange County, California.
