McDermott + Bull has successfully placed Dan Berry as Chief Executive Officer at NonProfits’ United. In this role, Dan will oversee strategic direction and operational execution, ensuring that insurance products and services offered meet the evolving needs of its members. Moreover, he will champion the company’s commitment to community support and risk management education, enhancing member organizations’ ability to serve their communities effectively and sustainably.

Dan has over 20 years of leadership experience in public entity risk pooling, insurance program management, and member engagement, with a strong background in growing and stabilizing insurance JPAs. He most recently served as Director of Insurance and Member Services at CharterSAFE, an insurance company covering nearly half of all charter schools in California, overseeing workers’ compensation, liability, property, and auto insurance programs. Throughout his career, Dan has been instrumental in member growth, retention strategies, and risk financing, ensuring that agencies receive comprehensive and sustainable insurance solutions.   

NonProfits’ United has been a pioneering force in California’s non-profit insurance sector for over three decades. The first of its kind, the organization is a member-owned non-profit insurer that offers tailored vehicle and workers’ compensation coverage to meet the unique needs of non-profit organizations. Since its inception in 1988, when it introduced the first vehicle insurance pool for non-profits, NonProfits’ United has expanded to insure over 250 organizations across the State of California, reflecting its commitment to financial stability, community collaboration, and shared success.
