McDermott + Bull has successfully placed Marcos Urias as Site Leader, Torrance, and Mark Meyer as Site Leader, Vista, at Bachem Holding. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, Hans Van Hees, they will be responsible for leading all operations at their respective facilities, including production, quality, HSE, and capital projects. They will drive each site’s strategic vision, oversee operational performance and financial targets, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability.
Marcos brings over 15 years of experience leading complex, FDA-regulated manufacturing environments within the biotech and oligonucleotide space. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Operations at Ansa Biotechnologies, where he led manufacturing, supply chain, and facilities functions while scaling production and driving operational excellence. Prior to that, he held leadership roles at Synthego, including Senior Director and Director of Operations, where he built GMP manufacturing capabilities and led large-scale facility expansions. Earlier in his career, Marcos held leadership and technical roles at Twist Bioscience, Thermo Fisher Scientific (GeneArt), and Life Technologies. He holds a Master of Science in Biotechnology from Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, as well as dual bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Entrepreneurial Studies from St. Mary’s University.
Mark brings decades of experience leading complex, multi-site manufacturing organizations across the life sciences, medical device, and biotechnology sectors. Most recently, he served as Senior Site Director at LGC Biosearch Technologies, where he oversaw two oligonucleotide manufacturing sites and drove significant improvements in operational performance, customer delivery, and profitability. Prior to that, he held senior leadership roles at Baxter Healthcare and Johnson & Johnson Vision, where he led large-scale manufacturing operations and implemented transformative efficiency and culture initiatives. Earlier in his career, Mark held progressive leadership positions at Abbott Laboratories, BD Biosciences, and Siemens Medical Systems. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
