The Company
Industry: Financial Services
Entity Type: Community Bank
Operating Region: Southern California
Size: $120M
The PROBLEM
Operating under regulatory scrutiny, the organization faced pressure to rebuild its senior leadership team, including the urgent appointment of a CFO. The institution needed an experienced interim CFO to bring financial stability, support strategic planning, and address compliance priorities, particularly around Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) obligations, interest rate risk (IRR) policies, and call reporting accuracy.
The Solution
McDermott + Bull Interim Leaders deployed a hands-on executive with over 20 years of leadership experience in the credit union industry. The interim leader brought deep expertise in strategic planning, financial modeling, and regulatory compliance, with a strong track record supporting financial institutions under heightened regulatory scrutiny.
The RESULT
The interim CFO closed the December and January ledgers, delivered accurate month-, quarter-, and year-end financial statements, and filed the Q4 2024 Call Report. They authored the institution’s 2025–2027 strategic plan, led the 2025 budget development, and coordinated strategic funding efforts to manage maturing wholesale certificates. In partnership with the COO, they also implemented a new FDIC deposit insurance sharing solution to protect high-value client accounts.
Delivered 2025–2027 Strategic Plan
Developed the three-year business plan and led the successful creation of the 2025 budget.
Filed Q4 Call Report + Maintained Liquidity
Filed the Q4 2024 Call Report, closed year-end ledgers, and managed liquidity by replacing maturing wholesale certificates with new funding sources.
Implemented FDIC Insurance Tech
Integrated a general ledger interface for a new deposit insurance sharing platform, which was completed on time and error-free.
