McDermott + Bull has successfully placed Rabiya Akhtar as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer at University Settlement. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, Rabiya will lead University Settlement’s finance, information technology, data, and facilities teams and will be responsible for managing the agency’s overall budget and physical plant.
Rabiya brings extensive knowledge and experience from the corporate and hedge fund community as well as the nonprofit sector. Most recently, she served as the Chief Financial Officer for Homes for the Homeless, a nonprofit focused on providing families experiencing homelessness with childcare, early education programming, and social services.
University Settlement is located in New York City and partners with 40,000 New Yorkers on the Lower East Side and in Brooklyn every year to build on their strengths as they achieve healthy, stable, and remarkable lives. For 135 years, they’ve collaborated with communities to pioneer highly effective programs that fight poverty and systemic inequality.
