I recently had an odd dream where I was sitting outside around what seemed like an unlimited number of people. Each person was holding a small bundle in their hands. Nothing special was going on, there was no obvious activity or purpose. Everyone was just sitting together.
Just before having the dream, I had learned a great lesson in a relationship about how each person needs to recognize the unique gifts that the other possesses in a relationship, while also realizing that everyone brings their own frame of reference to a situation. For me, the best way to approach others is to recognize that their situations determine what they need in their relationships — it is not up to me to create a reality for them.
I think that some learning may really (finally) be getting through my thick skull!
For me, the dream is symbolic of the relationships that make up a community. And the bundles in everyone’s lap? It feels to me like each person is holding their uniqueness, their own individual story — like in my recent learnings about relationships.
We are all in this society together, even though we are all such distinctive individuals. I wish for each of us enlightenment from this great dichotomy — the power of togetherness coupled with the enrichment from each person’s unique contributions.
