McDermott + Bull has been engaged to lead the search for the Justice Institute of BC’s (JIBC) next Director, Health Sciences Division. This search will be led by McDermott + Bull Principal Alex Verdecchia and Executive Search Consultant Corey Paquette.
The Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) is a public, post-secondary institution that provides education and training to those who’ll be there to support British Columbians and others around the world, when a life is at stake or when health, safety or property is in jeopardy. Work for JIBC and be a part of the big picture – supporting justice and public safety professionals at all stages of their careers in fields including law enforcement, firefighting, paramedicine, security and emergency management.
Reporting to the Dean, School of Health, Community and Social Justice, the Director, Health Sciences Division (HSD) will lead a dedicated team working to align curriculum with national accreditation, professional standards, best practice, provincial licensing requirements, employer recommendations, and JIBC’s strategic priorities. You will participate in weaving Indigenous ways of thinking, being, relating and doing with integral health science knowledge and skills that paramedics use to provide trauma-informed, culturally safe, and appropriate care for patients, and oversee the ongoing development and implementation of the enhanced PCP Certificate, and promote evidence-informed development of paramedicine education related to clinical practice.
As the ideal candidate, you bring experience at a senior leadership level ideally in post-secondary education, within a relevant professional health faculty with specific experience in development, delivery and/or oversight of training and educational programs. You are knowledgeable in adult and paramedicine education principles and pedagogy and are able to drive best-practices in student experience to support student success.
A relevant graduate/master’s degree, (such as health, education, leadership) is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
