The Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) is a public post-secondary institution that provides education and training to those who’ll be there to support British Columbians – and others around the world – when a life is at stake or when health, safety or property is in jeopardy. Working at JIBC means contributing to the big picture: supporting justice and public safety professionals at all stages of their careers in fields including law enforcement, firefighting, paramedicine, security, and emergency management.
With a new organizational framework in place, the School of Public Safety is entering a critical phase. Establishing a clear and cohesive identity, fostering alignment across teams, and reinforcing its academic and community-facing mission will be key priorities. Additionally, the opportunities in fire and safety and emergency management education and training, offer substantial opportunities for growth. Strong organizational leadership will be essential in prioritizing initiatives that align with JIBC’s mission.
As the ideal candidate, you bring experience at a senior leadership level in post-secondary education, with relevant professional experience in development, delivery and/or oversight of training and educational programs; managing large, complex budgets and working with contracts; setting and achieving operational plans; and leading multi-level teams in a unionized environment. Experience in emergency management or fire safety is preferred. A relevant graduate or master’s degree – such as education or leadership – is required.
The salary range for this position is $152,615 – $179,545.
The compensation range reflects JIBC’s pay for the role – between 85% and 100% of the sector range control point. Typically, employees will be hired, transferred, or promoted between 85% – 94% of the control point, based on the knowledge, qualifications, and experience, with exceptions in the 95% – 100% range.
