McDermott + Bull has been engaged to lead the search for the Post Secondary Employers’ Association’s new Director, Labour Relations. search will be led by McDermott + Bull Principal Alex Verdecchia and Executive Search Consultant Tracey Vopni.

The Post‐Secondary Employers’ Association (PSEA) is the employer bargaining agent for all public colleges, special‐purpose teaching universities, and institutes in British Columbia. These nineteen institutions constitute the BC Post-Secondary sector. PSEA was established to coordinate member compensation, benefits administration, HR best practice and collective bargaining objectives. It also assists the Public Sector Employers’ Council (PSEC) and Secretariat in carrying out objectives and strategic directions of the public sector negotiating mandate.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Strategic Negotiations, The Director, Labour Relations serves as the first point of contact for PSEA’s member institutions and supports collective bargaining by serving as lead spokesperson or an employer representative on local bargaining committees. The Director, Labour Relations serves as an advisor on matters related to contract interpretation and labour relations, coordinating with other PSEA staff as required.

We are looking for an experienced labour relations professional, preferably with experience in a public sector environment. The candidate will bring expert knowledge and experience in collective bargaining and contract administration including leading negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, research, and principles of costing. Legal experience in labour relations and employment law, is an asset.
