The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) is a polytechnic institute in Calgary, Alberta, with a vision to become a global leader in applied education. Building on its 100+ year history SAIT continues to reimagine the workforce of tomorrow and continues to train hit-the-ground-ready, future-proofed graduates.

The Associate Vice President, Teaching and Learning (AVP-TL), reporting to the Vice President, Academic, will be instrumental in the strategic execution of the Academic Plan, particularly in relation to teaching and learning initiatives. The role’s primary objective is to bolster academic excellence across SAIT’s academic division. This involves restructuring and ensuring the high quality of SAIT’s programs to meet the diverse needs of learners and industry. The AVP-TL will oversee the Centre for Academic Development + Innovation (CADI) and the Centre for Applied Education Innovation (CAEI), encompassing functions like academic technologies, faculty development, quality assurance, scholarly activity, course development, and program development. The AVP-TL will work closely with deans, directors, and other stakeholders to further SAIT’s mission of being a global leader in applied education.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of directly related experience in teaching and learning management, including 5 years in a senior-level leadership role. They should demonstrate the ability to lead change proactively and strategically, be an innovative thinker capable of developing and conveying a strategic vision, and inspire and engage various stakeholders in evolving SAIT’s vision. A master’s degree is required, with a doctoral degree in an applied discipline, such as an Ed.D., recommended.
