McDermott + Bull has been engaged to lead the search for the Director of Finance at Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation (NMIC). This search will be led by McDermott + Bull Partner Sue Waterbury and Recruiter Mary Heiman.
Founded in 1979, NMIC is a community-based, not-for-profit organization that has grown into a leading multi-service agency with over 140 staff members serving New York City, primarily focusing on upper Manhattan and the Bronx. NMIC’s mission is to catalyze positive change in the community, guiding people on their paths to secure and prosperous futures through comprehensive crisis intervention and capacity-building services designed to transition individuals and families to self-sufficiency.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Administration Officer and accountable to the Board, Executive Director, and Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Finance will partner with key stakeholders to provide necessary financial support. They will manage NMIC’s complex financial operations, including oversight of multiple funding streams, grants management, and financial compliance with federal, state, and city regulations. They will also lead financial system transitions, manage internal and external finance teams, and ensure the organization’s financial practices support strategic decision-making and comply with audit requirements. This role is central to the organization’s financial strategy and involves close collaboration with program leaders and finance teams.
This full-time, permanent position offers a competitive salary range of $140,000 to 150,000 per year, dependent on experience, qualifications, and relevant skills.
